Training began in 1970 in Ethiopia, where under the tutilage of Mr. Robert Walson, 4th Dan Instructor, Menelik Kahil earned his way from White to Black Belt.

From 1975 to 1980, Menelik continued his training in Ethiopia under Mr. Lee Hong Hi, 6th Dan Instructor.  At which time, he formed the African Taekwon-Do Association with other clubs until 1983.  Menelik then moved toKenya where he spent a year teaching and training.

Menelik left Kenya in 1983, and travelled throughout Italy and Europe.  He spent the next 4 1/2 years training and teaching wherever he went in Europe.

In 1988, Menelik moved to Canada and that year joined the Jong Park Institute of Taekwon-Do.  For many years he trained diligently, moving up in rank to 5th Dan.  In 1995 Menelik opened his own Dojo, Menelik's Takwlon-Do.  Shortly thereafter he met Master Hiron, 4th Dan and together they formed International Linked Taekwon-Do (ILT), and ILT Canada.  Master Menelik served ILT as the President and Technical Manager.

Seeking to continue to train others, Master Menelik joined Quest Martial Arts in 2005 in order to assist the training, development and support of the SWAT Team.  In 2008, Master Menelik, now 8th Dan has become the owner of Quest Martial Arts - QuestMAC.
